Benefits
Meridian represents a radical departure from traditional computer graphics rendering
technology, so it does not inherit the shortcomings or hidden costs associated with
existing rendering applications. The new Sunfish technology in Meridian provides
a completely fresh, simple and revolutionary foundation. Through our innovative
approach, the Meridian rendering engine is capable of solving problems and achieving
results which are beyond the capability of current rendering products. This translates
into measurable user benefits.
- Image Quality. Meridian provides guaranteed results, unlike traditional
rendering engines which do not. The underlying speculative nature of current rendering
platforms is the source of unwanted tessellation, approximation, filtering and aliasing
artifacts. Meridian has the unique ability to automatically compute a rendering
solution to a specified level of fidelity, guaranteed, with no such unwanted artifacts.
The result is higher quality images which do not contain errors due to speculative
limitations of the rendering software.
- Capacity. Meridian will never run out of memory despite scene complexity.
Unlike other commercial packages, Meridian uses only a small and constant memory
footprint. All competing rendering engines will eventually encounter terminal spikes
in memory usage when processing scenes with enough geometric detail. Meridian eliminates
these problems and associated costs. In addition, older or inexpensive computing
hardware can be used in a renderfarm.
- Simplicity. Meridian provides automatic control of the rendering process
giving users a truly streamlined experience. Simple and elegant options allow users
to easily specify a desired image quality. This is in contrast to other commercial
packages which require users to choose from a seemingly endless number of complicated
parameters and esoteric settings.
- Speed. The more sophisticated and complex the scene, the better. The performance
of Meridian distinguishes itself as the demand for scene volume increases. Similarly,
the addition of high-end features such as motion blur, transparency and displacement
do not hinder performance, even on the largest models.
